Enhance West Van is a charitable, not-for-profit society governed by a volunteer community Board of Directors.
The Society’s Board of Directors are community members who demonstrate :
- a commitment to community ownership, significant volunteerism and citizen engagement
- the know-how and energy to fundraise beyond what the District contributes.
- the ability to identify and implement enhanced services to our diverse West Vancouver community.

CHAIR: JOANNE McKENNA

Joanne is the Board Chair and serves on the Governance and Executive Committees.
Joanne has lived in West Vancouver over 20 years. She has led the Childcare Working Group, served as a member of the Library Board, and works on neighbourhood committees for the Horseshoe Bay Park Revitalization and the Local Area Plan initiatives.
She has nearly 30 years of business experience, with a broad knowledge and understanding of government, governance, Indigenous Relations, policy and environmental issues
TREASURER: VITALINA LYSSOUN

Vitalina is the Board Treasurer and serves on the Finance and Executive Committees.
Vitalina is a Chartered Professional Accountant with multi-national experience in consulting, mining and real estate.
Vitalina speaks four languages and has visited over 50 countries but believes West Vancouver is the best place to call home! She lives in Eagle Harbour with her husband and two boys who can normally be found at the beach, park or participating in various programs with the community centres.
DIRECTOR: KATHY ANDREWS, MA

Kathy is a new Board Director and sits on the Resource Development and Communications Committee.
Kathy is the Founder of Cinga Leadership and the creator of For Leaders, By Leaders©.
She has more than 25 years of experience as an executive facilitator and culture strategist, with a track record of strengthening leadership and aligning business strategy with organizational culture.
Kathy has worked globally across North America, Europe, and South America with leading organizations including Teekay, lululemon, Methanex, Ausenco, and Canfor.
Kathy is also a cancer advocate with a focus on health and well-being, bringing resilience and empathy to her work and community.
Born in South Africa, Kathy now lives in North Vancouver with her family. She enjoys running, travel, and time outdoors, and can often be found on local trails or by the ocean.
DIRECTOR: SARAH BARCLAY

Sarah is a new Board Director and serves on the Resource Development and Communications Committee.
Sarah grew up in West Vancouver and was fortunate to attend Ridgeview, Hillside, Rockridge and West Van Secondary School due to construction back in the 90’s! Growing up with such a rich sports community on the North Shore enabled Sarah to go on to compete at the Provincial and University level in field hockey and allowed her to give back as a long-time coach and board member of West Vancouver Field Hockey Club.
Sarah brings a deep understanding of how philanthropic investment transforms athletic and recreation programs and builds lasting community legacies. With over 17 years of experience in fundraising and alumni engagement for UBC Athletics, Sarah works at the intersection of passion and purpose, connecting donors with the capital projects and varsity programs that need their support to thrive. Sarah’s passionate about helping donors see how their contributions create tangible impact, whether it’s building state-of-the-art facilities, supporting student-athletes, or ensuring grassroots sport programs can flourish for generations to come.
A North Shore resident and busy mom of two, Sarah lives her values beyond the office through volunteering with Girl Guides, supporting trail running races, and grinding out ultra-marathons on the trails she calls home. For her, sport isn’t just recreation; it’s community, connection, and the foundation for lifelong wellbeing.
DIRECTOR: HELENE CHILDS

Helene is a Board Director and serves on the Community Engagement & Outreach Committee.
Originally from the small town of Quesnel BC Helene moved to Vancouver after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She started a vet practice downtown Vancouver in 2016 and moved to West Vancouver in 2020. The North Shore appeals to her love of close knit community and nature. She loves the skiing, hiking, and biking here as well as the community centre for those who like to be active and social indoors too. Her and her partner are looking forward to deepening their connection to the community and other families here and contributing in a positive way.
DIRECTOR: CAROL FRASER

Carol is a Board Director and the Chair of the Community Engagement and Outreach Committee. She is also involved in the development and delivery of the Forum for Dialogue and Learning that is hosted by Enhance West Van.
Carol has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, coupled with working as a Business Coach empowering small businesses to thrive and succeed.
Currently, she contributes to the Public Engagement Advisory Panel with the District of West Vancouver. Previously, she served on the Hollyburn Country Club Board for 7 years, including 2 years as Chair and chaired the PAC at Rockridge Secondary.
Originally from Northern NB and a graduate of the University of Ottawa, Carol has resided in West Vancouver for over 15 years. In her free time, she enjoys exploring North Shore trails, cycling, playing tennis and pickleball, skiing, and engaging in community activities with her partner and kids.
DIRECTOR: JANET HICKS

Janet is a Board Director and serves on the Community Engagement and Outreach Committee. She is also involved in the development and delivery of the Forum for Dialogue and Learning that is hosted by Enhance West Van.
Janet was born and raised in West Vancouver and has also raised her two boys in the West Vancouver community. Janet has a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges facing the community.
Janet has a Master of Education degree from San Diego State and many years of experience in both public and private education sectors. Janet has worked for thirty years in West and North Vancouver School Districts mainly as a curriculum coordinator and a Vice Principal. Janet also consults internationally with the International Baccalaureate Organization evaluating schools and training teachers.
In her free time Janet enjoys a variety of sports including skiing, hiking the North Shore with her two dogs and spending time with her family skiing Whistler.
DIRECTOR: TERRY HONCHARUK

Terry is a Board Director and the Chair of the Resource Development and Communications Committee.
Born in Vancouver, Terry is a life-long North Shore resident, and has lived with his wife and two children in West Vancouver for 20 years where they continue to enjoy all the amazing experiences that the mountains, beaches, woodlands, and recreational facilities have to offer.
Terry studied at UBC and Dalhousie University and is a lawyer practicing in the areas of employment, labour, and human rights; he runs a consulting firm with his wife that specializes in Respectful Workplace education, executive coaching, and workplace investigations.
Terry is thankful for the opportunity to serve and give back to the community through Enhance West Van.

Leila is a Board Director and serves on the Resource Development & Communications Committee.
Leila is caring, passionate and a connector who is fully invested in community engagement promoting diversity, inclusion & equality.
Currently she is a Sr. Relationship Manager of Commercial Banking with RBC Royal Bank, managing a diversified portfolio of mature Commercial business, providing tailored financial advice to sophisticated and complex business structures.
She has built a strong reputation as a huge advocate for community and a strong believer that Together Everyone Achieves More! She believes everyone should bring their expertise, knowledge and skills in helping communities to prosper.
Leila & her husband are long term W. Vancouver residents, blessed with two children born and raised in N.Shore
DIRECTOR: DAVID KARP

As a fractional CFO, David enjoys working with emerging technology and life sciences companies, supporting their efforts to develop life-changing innovations and therapies. David was previously the CFO and then CEO of CounterPath, a Nasdaq-listed public software company. As CFO of Chemokine Therapeutics, he led the company’s initial public offering and listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange. David was previously CFO of Neuro Discovery Inc., a fund company focused on biotechnology investing. As VP Investment Banking for BMO Capital Markets, David raised capital and managed IPOs for the life sciences sector. David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Originally from Ontario, David and his family have lived in West Vancouver for over 25 years, most of that time in the West Bay area. He is an active squash player, boater and fly fisherman. He regularly enjoys swimming at the West Vancouver Aquatic Centre and working out in the weight and training room.
DIRECTOR: RON NAIRNE

Ron is a Board Director and sits on the Community Engagement and Outreach Committee. He has also been involved in the development and delivery of the Forum for Dialogue and Learning that is hosted by Enhance West Van.
He has practiced law in the field of civil litigation for three decades, and is the founder and managing partner of Ambleside Law, a West Vancouver law firm.
Ron was born and raised in West Vancouver, attending West Bay and Hillside Secondary Schools. Although he lost his way and left West Vancouver for a number of years, he returned in 2010.
Outside of work, Ron enjoys coaching his daughter’s soccer team, hiking the local trails, and sailing.
DIRECTOR: REZA NAZARINIA

Reza is a Board Director and serves on the Resource Development and Communications Committee.
Reza Nazarinia is the CEO and Founder of the Sales Lab by NBV Inc., a Director and Executive Committee member with the Intellectual Disabilities Society of North and West Vancouver and is the Vice President and a Board Member with the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society.
A seasoned and respected business professional, he has a solid track record of driving growth and increasing market share across diverse industries, along with a distinguished 23-year career strategizing and leading sales and marketing operations for fortune 500 organizations.
He is a hands-on leader with expertise unifying people for a common goal and vision. Reza is always looking to support others and help in any way that he can.
Reza grew up on the North Shore and currently lives in West Vancouver with his wife and three children. He has his undergraduate and graduate degree in business from Simon Fraser University.
DIRECTOR: BRIAN PETERS

Brian is a Senior Investment Advisor at Canaccord Genuity with 18 years of experience in the industry. A dedicated community member and family man, Brian is married and has three children — Charles (14), Katie (12), and Ben (7) — who attend Rockridge Secondary School and Caulfeild Elementary School.
Brian is actively involved in youth sports as an assistant coach for West Vancouver soccer teams (U14 Div 1 and U8), and his daughter also trains at Balance Gymnastics at the Community Centre. Brian recently joined Capilano Golf & Country Club and remains passionate about soccer, having played varsity soccer and currently competing with Columbus FC in a Burnaby league.
Born in Montreal and raised in Port Coquitlam, he attended Terry Fox Secondary School.
DIRECTOR: CHUCK PIERCEY

Chuck is a Board Director of Enhance West Van and serves on the Governance Committee.
Chuck is a lawyer and partner with Ratcliff LLP in North Vancouver. He started his legal career in the development industry and transitioned to practicing real estate, business and estate planning law in 1992.
Chuck and his family have been residents of West Vancouver since 1996 and he has been active as a director and hockey coach with the West Vancouver Minor Hockey Association since 2012.
DIRECTOR: STEVE QU

With nearly a decade of distinguished real estate experience, Steve currently serves as the Managing Broker of Sutton Group – 1st West Realty. Reflecting his deep commitment to industry governance and professional standards, he has previously served as a committee member for the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, including professional investigations and technology initiatives.
Blending professional leadership with community devotion, Steve previously served as a Director on the Asian Advisory Committee for the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation and as a Board member for the Mount Pleasant Community Centre, while also supporting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board Charitable Foundation. As a West Vancouver resident and a father of four, he has been deeply involved in local civic life, previously serving as a Consultant for the Bridge Festival and as a Grade Representative at Sentinel Secondary School.
Since 2016, he has also been the visionary founder of the West Vancouver Lunar New Year Event, passionately encouraging families to fully integrate into and thrive within the local community.
Looking ahead, Steve aspires to deepen his involvement in local civic and community initiatives, dedicated to making a lasting, meaningful impact on the growth and well-being of West Vancouver.
DIRECTOR: SANDY SULL

Sandy is a Board Director and serves on the Resource Development and Communications Committee.
Sandy is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and graduated from Laurentian University. She recently joined Neptune Terminals as the Capital Controller for the North Vancouver operations.
Aligned with her leadership abilities within various groups, Sandy aims to engage and develop team members for future growth and career advancement.
In addition, Sandy is a dedicated and passionate advocate for sustainability, environment and social causes that impact her community directly.
DIRECTOR: ISABELLA TABA

Isabella is a Board Director and serves on the Finance Committee.
She is an experienced engineer, and the chief strategy officer at Implant Genius, a company that leverages AI technology to improve dental implants.
As an avid private pilot, Isabella pursued a successful career in aerospace engineering. She worked with industry giants like McDonald Dettwiler and Urthecast and is proud to have worked on the earth observation project for the international space station.
Isabella has served as CEO and COO with exciting start-ups that make the world a better place. She is a member of Engineers without Borders helping those affected by natural disasters. She has raised funds to provide clean water in rural areas in the Middle East and volunteered with the homeless in Vancouver.
Isabella has an MBA from Cornell and Queens University, an MSc in Aerospace Engineering, an MSc in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering.
COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE: SCOTT SNIDER

Scott has been a Civil Mediator for the last 24 years, involved in several thousands of mediation over this time.
He is a third generation West Vancouverite, being born and raised in West Vancouver, attending both Chartwell Elementary and Sentinel High School. His grandparents settled in West Vancouver before the opening of the Lions Gate Bridge, with his mother attending Pauline Johnson and West Vancouver High. His children also attending and graduating from West Vancouver schools.
Scott is an avid golfer when not mediating and enjoys travel whenever the opportunity rises. Scott is currently serving his first term as a Councillor for the District of West Vancouver.
