Executive Committee
The Executive Committee plays an important role in the governance of Enhance West Van. This Committee is comprised of the Chair, three Vice Chairs, Secretary and Treasurer. Its main role is to act for the Board on urgent matters arising between regular Board meetings, in cases where it is not practical to convene a meeting of the Board. The Executive Committee liaises, on a regular basis, with the Executive Director and provides guidance and direction to the Executive Director on pertinent and time-sensitive matters. The Committee also provides direction on Board Agendas, represents the Board at events and functions and undertakes the evaluation of the Executive Director.
Community Engagement + Outreach
The Community Engagement and Outreach Committee is the largest committee with a focus on engaging community residents and users of the Community Centre by providing opportunities to directly influence the programs, services and activities taking place at the Centre through liaising with the community. This Committee consists of both Board members and others volunteer members from the Society Membership. The Committee also leads the Society’s preparations for the annual Forums on Dialogue and Learning, which feature an extraordinary panel of world-leading experts discussing topics of direct relevance to West Vancouver and the North Shore.
Governance
The Governance Committee plays a vital role in the operation of Enhance West Van. The purpose of the Committee is to assist the Board in ensuring that the overall business, stewardship, and governance responsibilities of the Board are conducted efficiently and effectively. The Governance Committee is concerned with Society compliance with the Society Act, Board performance and accountability, Board organization, and the retention of quality directors and appointed officials to meet policy, fiduciary and fundraising obligations.
Resource Development and Communications
The Resource Development and Communications Committee is tasked with developing and communicating a strategy and implementing it to provide extraordinary financial support to the West Vancouver Community Centre, Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena. This funding, in addition to user fee revenue and municipal support allows for further enhancement of the facilities and development of new and existing programs, all delivered as a result of work done by the community for the community. The committee is responsible for developing a communications strategy to raise brand awareness while also promoting Society programs and events. This committee is of vital important to Enhance West Van in order to showcase who we are and what we do.
Finance
Enhance West Van’s Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer of the Board. The Committee’s mandate is to oversee and monitor the financial management and reporting of the West Vancouver Community Centre, Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena, as well as the financial management of the Society itself. The Committee is currently made up of Directors from the Board and the Chair of the Board who sits on every committee as a past official member. The Enhance West Van Executive Director and District of West Vancouver staff supply the Committee with financial information pertaining to the Community Centre, Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena Operating and Capital Budgets. The Committee also ensures that the Society is compliant with statutory requirements and that the Society has internal controls and financial policies in place to ensure that its assets are safeguarded and that transactions are properly authorized.
PumpkinFest Planning Committee
