Karen has sat on the Board of Enhance West Van since 2018 and became the Chair in 2021.She has decades of experience in the non- profit sector playing leading roles in the launch of two innovative charities that used social purpose business and entrepreneurship to drive social change.

Her experience ranges from executive work with the IFC (Washington, DC) to the Obakki Foundation that drilled water wells and supported micro finance projects in rural villages in South Sudan, to building funding and partnerships for The Next Big Thing a charity co-founded by Ryan Holmes of Hootsuite. Karen has been on the board of Oxfam Canada for 4 years and is currently the Chair. She also sits on the Patrons Council of VGH and the Advisory Board of the Vancouver Rent Bank.

She has decades of experience in building cross-sector partnerships and is a strong believer in the power of Social Purpose Businesses and Women Leaders to be drivers of social change. Ending poverty begins with women's rights.

Karen grew up in West Vancouver and has been fortunate enough to raise her family here. Her connection to the parks, ocean, mountains and community runs deep. She can be found on most weekends running the trails, swimming in the sea or skiing the slopes with a child or two in tow.


Julie was born and raised in West Vancouver and lives with her husband and two children in the Bayridge area. She enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle with her family and using the facilities and programming offered by the Community Centres.

Julie is an accountant and is currently a Vice President, Finance at BentallGreenOak working with institutional investors. Prior to that she was a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked for over 15 years with public, private and not-for-profit entities in the Assurance practice. She is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC and holds her Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University. Her previous volunteer experience includes being a former Director of the North Shore Meals on Wheels Society.

Julie is a Director and Treasurer of the Enhance West Van Board and serves on both the Executive and Finance and Audit Committees.


Najeeb is currently a Vice-Chair and Registrar of the BC Labour Relations Board. Prior to that he practiced labour and employment law for thirty years, including at one of Canada's largest national law firms. His professional affiliations include the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of British Columbia. Najeeb obtained a B.A from the University of Western Ontario and an LL.B from the University of Victoria.

Outside of the law, Najeeb enjoys hiking the North Shore mountains with his wife and daughters and their golden doodle, Harry, and playing recreational hockey. He and his family have enjoyed their experiences at the West Vancouver Community Centre over their many years living on the North Shore.

Najeeb is a current Director of the Enhance West Van Board and serves as a member of the Executive and Governance Committee.


Mary Jo was a commercial real estate lawyer in the Vancouver office of a national law firm for 21 years. She has since volunteered locally in numerous ways, including being on the Boards of the West Vancouver Memorial Library and its Foundation and chairing the West Vancouver Sports Field Forum Working Group. Mary Jo has resided in West Vancouver with her husband and three children for the past 29 years. Mary Jo currently chairs the Community Engagement and Outreach Committee and is a Vice-President of Enhance West Van.



Peter is born and raised in Vancouver and married into West Vancouver in 2002.  He is passionate about the West Vancouver Community Centre and sits on the Finance Committee for Enhance West Van.  Peter has been a dedicated Investment Advisor at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management since 1996 serving local investors and entrepreneurs. As a fan of all sports, Peter coaches with the West Van Football Club, West Vancouver Little League, and plays organized softball & hockey.


Terri is a current board director and sits on the Community Engagement and Outreach Committee. She is also the chair of Pumpkinfest.

Terri is an Associate Teacher at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver. She has raised her children in West Vancouver and has been an actively involved in the Community in various roles over the years. She served as PAC chair at West Bay School and as a member of the West Vancouver DPAC. She has also been involved with West Vancouver Minor Hockey and the West Vancouver Soccer Club. When she isn’t volunteering or working you can find her running or hiking somewhere on the North Shore.



Sara McCracken is a lawyer with Deloitte Tax Law LLP, specializing in tax and corporate/commercial law.  She holds her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Queen’s University, her Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia, and her Master of Law in Tax from the London School of Economics and Political Science.  Sara has published articles on a wide variety of legal matters, and she is an active member of various professional organizations.  Sara has previously served as a director, officer, and honorary legal counsel for other not-for-profit entities.

Sara grew up in West Vancouver, where she currently resides with her husband and two children.  Sara is an avid runner and skier, and her whole family enjoys the Community Centre’s facilities and programs.

Sara is a current Director of the Enhance West Van Board and is Chair of the Governance Committee.


Joanne has lived in West Vancouver over 20 years. She has led the Child Care Working Group, been a member of the Library Board, and served on neighbourhood committees for the Horseshoe Bay Park Revitalization and the Local Area Plan initiatives.

Joanne is part of the Community Engagement & Outreach Committee and has been involved in the development and delivery of the Forum for Dialogue and Learning that is hosted by Enhance West Van. She has nearly 30 years of experience with a broad knowledge and understanding of government, governance, the utility industry, Indigenous Relations, policy and environmental issues.



Ron was born and raised in West Vancouver, attending West Bay and Hillside Secondary Schools.  Although he lost his way and left West Vancouver for a number of years, he returned in 2010. Since 1990 Ron has practiced law in the field of civil litigation and in 2020 joined Mark Sager to form Sager Nairne, West Vancouver’s local full service law firm. Outside of work, Ron enjoys coaching his daughter’s soccer team, hiking the local trails, and sailing.


Chuck is a lawyer and partner with Ratcliff LLP in North Vancouver. He started his legal career in the development industry and transitioned to practicing real estate, busines and estate planning law in 1992. Chuck is on the Enhance West Van Governance Committee. Chuck and his family have been residents of West Vancouver since 1996 and he has been active as a director and hockey coach with the West Vancouver Minor Hockey Association since 2012.


Jatinder Sidhu moved to West Vancouver with his physician wife and three elementary-aged kids from London, England in 2018. Now a freelance journalist he worked for 21 years with BBC News: online; in radio as a producer and duty editor at high profile shows including The Today Programme and The World at One; and in TV including on BBC World News. He has worked around the globe on feature stories, investigations and breaking news including terrorism in France, democracy in Pakistan and dictatorship in Egypt. Jatinder volunteered for a variety of roles in the UK including as Beaver Scout Leader, and on the public oversight committee for London's Pentonville prison. Here in Canada he’s been a puppy raiser for BC Guide Dogs, and was appointed in 2020 to the Board of Trustees for West Vancouver Memorial Library. In his spare time Jatinder enjoys dragging his family outdoors: biking, skiing and kayaking. Jatinder sits on the Resource Development and Communications Committee.


ChiChi Wang has worked extensively in high level intergovernmental relations and entrepreneurship for more than 15 years.  As a promoter of women’s empowerment and positive social change, she spoke at TEDx,  has produced her own talk show, published interviews profiling accomplished Canadians and worked on projects with UN Women, UNDP and UNEP. In the 4 years she has been living in West Vancouver, ChiChi has volunteered with the Bridge Festival, the West Vancouver Seniors Centre and the Small Neighbourhood Grants Committee at West Vancouver Foundation. She currently sits on the Resource Development and Communications Committee with Enhance West Van and is spearheading the West Vancouver-based Pay It Forward Initiative. In her spare time, ChiChi enjoys racket sports, golf and reading with her bilingual bookclub.


Julie has a Master’s Degree in Information Technology from the University of Nottingham in the UK. She has worked in many different countries including the UK, US and China, and also worked for many Global companies, such as HP, TCS and Capgemini. She is currently a partner of MetroData Tech. Ltd., which is a company focused in the Big Data area.

Julie has lived in West Vancouver with her husband and three children for 5 years. She enjoys hiking with her family and they are avid users of the Community Centre. Julie sits on the Community Engagement and Outreach Committee.


Yang Wang is a real-estate developer in West Vancouver. Yang holds a master’s degree in business management from the University of British Columbia and a bachelor degree in engineering from the University of Southern California.

Yang serves as a board director at the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, North Shore Multicultural Society, and the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. Yang is also the organizer of West Vancouver’s popular Asian New Year celebrations. Yang has also been serving as a committee member with various organizations including the District of West Vancouver and West Vancouver Foundation. In his spare time, Yang is a USPA level -1 polo player.


Tom has been a resident of the North Shore his entire life, having spent his formative teenage and young adult years in West Van, raising his family in North Van, then wisely returning to West Van in 2016. Tom is a graduate of the Capilano College Outdoor Recreation Management Program, and later earned a Masters Degree in Leadership at Royal Roads University.

In late 2020 Tom retired from a long and rewarding career in recreation. Starting as a canoe and cross-country ski instructor and outdoor guide, he transitioned to multiple leadership roles, ending his career as a Recreation Manager for Burnaby Parks and Recreation. In retirement, Tom is giving back to his community in various ways, with a goal of making West Van a better place for all to enjoy.



Sandy is Chief Financial Officer of Conair Group Inc., the largest privately owned fixed-wing aerial firefighting company globally and is a Chartered Accountant by training. This followed a career in many industries including retail, resort and leisure, high-tech and manufacturing, which also included 20+ large construction projects.

Having emigrated with his young family to Canada in 1999, Sandy spent 5 years in Whistler before moving to West Vancouver in 2004 where he currently resides. 

As his family grew up in West Vancouver, Sandy was active in coaching, including track, soccer and rugby at school and club level and has always been a strong supporter of improving activity levels in children and youth.  He continues to enjoy the benefits of the Community Centre’s many offerings, and is an avid triathlete, skier and tennis player.     

Sandy is a current Director of the Enhance West Van Board, having joined the Board in 2022. 


Vitalina is a Chartered Professional Account with global experience working with complex companies in Canada, Central America, Africa and Europe.  She graduated from UBC before starting her career at Deloitte and has since focused on financial leadership in mining and real estate companies. She is also the treasurer for the West Vancouver Child Development Centre. 

Vitalina speaks four languages and has visited over 50 countries but believes West Vancouver is the best place to call home. She lives in Eagle Harbour with her husband and two boys who can normally be found at the beach, park or participating in various programs with the community centres.    


Isabella has led a successful career in the fields of electronics, aerospace engineering, and healthcare. As an avid private pilot, Isabella became fascinated with the field of aerospace engineering and went to work with industry giants such as McDonald Dettwiler and Urthecast in Systems Engineer and Project Manager roles. Isabella worked on the earth observation project that placed cameras on the international space station and monitored our planet for changes brought about by global warming. Currently serving as the chief strategy officer at Implant Genius, Isabella has been instrumental in the growth of the company across Canada and the United States helping bring smiles to thousands of patients through implant placement that is powered by assisted intelligence. Isabella has served as CEO, President, and COO to start-ups that have audacious goals of making the world a better place.Isabella has helped companies such as Direct Kinetic Solutions bring isotopic power supply solutions to the aerospace industry and Blue Dot Motor Works reduce humanity’s carbon footprint by converting gas vehicles to electric.

Isabella believes in living a life that is in service to others. She has volunteered in the Downtown East Side of Vancouver, helped raise funds for providing clean water to people in rural areas in the Middle East, and has been a member of Engineers without boarders helping those affected by natural disasters.

Isabella has received an MBA from Cornell and Queens University, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Simon Fraser University.



Councillor Thompson is serving her first term as a District Councillor. Sharon has been a resident of West Vancouver for 35 years, raising her three active daughters in the community. They are now through university and living around the world. During her time in West Vancouver, she has been an avid volunteer and a community leader and advocate.

Her degree in Urban Geography from UBC and diploma in Civic Engagement and Dialogue at SFU are suiting her current roles well.
