Supporting our community through the pandemic

Welcome back after what is probably the longest summer any of us can remember, and unfortunately not for the right reasons! The pandemic has presented a unique challenge for all of us, both individually and as a community.

Enhance West Van’s mission is to make your Community Centre even better, and as you might expect, this has been quite challenging over the past several months. Yet over the summer we have been able to fund many programs and services in the community, despite the centre itself being closed.

Some of the projects we have been able to support are:

  • Youth and Family Food Security Program (supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and West Vancouver Foundation)
  • Virtual childminding activities
  • Virtual family and youth programs
  • Youth home garden project
  • Virtual fitness programs

The Community Centre is now beginning to re-open some of its programs and services on-site in a modified form and we look forward to welcoming you back. You can find all the details here.

Many of our Enhance West Van landmark events, such as PumpkinFest, have had to be canceled this year while other programs, such as our community Forums, will be moved online. I am confident, however, that we will continue to come together to keep our community connected. For more information about Enhance West Van, or to donate, visit our website.

My thanks again to all of our community donors and partners for your continued support. From the feedback that we have received, I know that these programs have made a real difference during these difficult times.

Here’s to looking forward to a healthier fall season!
